The shrinks say Kevin is schizophrenic; it's a LIE

Schizophrenia

[I was never diagnosed with schizophrenia. I think the confusion is the result of my having been prescribed risperidone, an atypical anti-psychotic, which is normally used to treat schizophrenia. My initial diagnosis was "the psychotic disorder, not otherwise specified." Later this was changed to the delusional disorder. --Kevin Walsh]

I was talking to a mental health worker and he said that schizophrenia is often used as a cover all phrase when the shrinks don't know what wrong with you they classify you as schizophrenia. Such as in the case of Kevin where Secret Service wants to lock him up and they will use any excuse they can.

On the other hand their are specific sub-sets of schizophrenia such where the symptoms are much better defined.

Who is schizophrenic?

One percent of all people have schizophrenia. Wow ! Thats a lot of people! one out of every hundred people is a little schizo. In my six grade class of about 300 people that means there were 3 people with schizophrenia

schizophrenia is NOT

people assume that having schizophrenia means having mutiple personalities this is NOT true.

people assume that having schizophrenia means being a dangerous maniac. this is NOT true.

schizophrenics are rarely violent.

schizophrenia is not multiple or split personalities even though many people think it is.

schizophrenia is

schizophrenia is delusions, confused thinking and hallucinations.

paranoid delusion - you think people are trying to harm you.

hallucinations - i like that word

sympotoms of schizophrenia

hearing voices is one common symptom of schizophrenia

Delusions - are false belliefs that a person holds on to, despite the fact there is strong evidence that the beliefs are wrong.

Hallucinations - he sees, hears, or feels something that is not really there. hearing voices is common.

Disorganized Speech - they leap from one idea to another even though the two ideas are not connected.

Blunted Affect - trouble showing emotions. they show less anger, sadness, joy, and other feelings then most people do. They have poor eye contact.

Poverty of Speech - they may say very little. they give short answers to questions.

Causes of schizophrenia

It is thought that chemical imbalances in the brain cause schizophrenia.

One guess of a cause is having too much of a nuerotransmitter called dopamine in the brain causes schizophrenia.

The illegal drug methamphetamine which is called speed or meth on the street increases dopamine and seems to increase the affects of the schizophrenia.

LSD, PCP, and marijuana can cause symptoms of schizophrenia but the symptoms almost always go away within 72 hours after the drug use stops. But it is not suspected that using these drugs can cause a person to become schizophrenic.

Schizophrenia frequently runs in families. i.e.: It's genetic

You can't catch schizophrenia. It's not contagious.

Schizophrenia often strikes between the ages of 16 & 25

Some quotes from schizophrenic people

Some quotes from schizophrenic people

" The FBI is after me." Wait a minute. That sounds like something I would say. I don't have schizophrenia! Do I??? No???

"The voices told me it was a little camera."

"The voices in my head were telling me when to say yes and when to say no and when to say anything."

"I thought he was doing telepathy with me from Denver to New York."

Doctors identifying schizophrenia - It ain't Science

The means to identify and treat schizophrenia seem to be a con man's game.

With a regular sickness the doctor says "I think you have the flu," and then tests you to see if you have the virus that causes the flu--an open and shut case. You can go to a thousand doctors and if they are all "skilled" doctors each will come up with more or less the same results.

The book I read on schizophrenia says nobody really knows what schizophrenia is. The doctor says to the person who he thinks has schizophrenia, "I will talk to you and figure out what's wrong with you." "It might take me a week, or it might take me a year, but I will talk to you long enough and figure out why you're sick."

If somebody's writing a blank check to pay the doctor that sounds like a dream job any con man would love to have, and while the schizophrenic person is not paying the bill, I'm sure some doctors are trying out how to get the government to pay for their bill while they talk to these schizophrenic people, trying to figure out what's wrong with them, and getting a blank check from the government to do it!

I'm not saying the person with schizophrenia is not sick. I'm saying that the doctors don't understand how to identify and treat schizophrenia, and because of that they often ask for a blank check when it comes to identifying the sickness and treating it. And I suspect many times they don't identify or fix the illness. This is my view and didn't come from any of the books I have listed as sources for this information.

The book says identifying and curing schizophrenia is not really a science. Doctors and scientists don't understand schizophrenia very well.

It often takes months for the doctors to find the right dose of medication to treat schizophrenia.

Average length for the delusions and hallucinations to go away totally is two months.

Curing the symptoms of schizophrenia

Neuroleptic medications work on schizophrenia because they block the action of dopamine in the brain.

Insulin controls diabetes, but does not cure it. Like diabetes, there is no cure for schizophrenia; there are only medications to control its symptoms.

Schizophrenia and guns

Schizophrenia is a rather harmless sickness so people with schizophrenia should be allowed to have guns? Right! And there is not part in the 2nd Amenmdment of the Bill of Rights that says
Amendment II A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed [execpt in the case of crazy people and schizophrenia people and anybody else the government wants to keep from having a gun]
Well the jackbooted thugs in congress who wrote the Brady Act added that imaginary clause to the second amendment and made it illegal for crazy people and schizophrenic people to have guns. In the unconstitional Brady Bill it makes it illegal for these people to have guns and says:
it shall be unlawful for any licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer to sell, deliver, or transfer a handgun to an individual who
