Subject: Agent LeBeau harasses my family

Ray LeBeau of the Secret Service has telephoned my household directly today while I was away at work. Saturday night he only telephoned my mother at her cell phone while she was at her office. This has caused concern in my family, and my mother in particular. Evidently LeBeau knows he can't frighten me and wants to frighten her to try to destroy my family. I have held my ground against both of them. I told my mother that to ask me to waive my civil rights for her sake was back-stabbing and cowardice, not love and that if she ever made such demands again, we were no longer mother and son. I do love her, and I don't want to see my family destroyed, but I will not betray the country for her or the struggle for her. On principle I figured I should not even acknowledge LeBeau's telephone message, but I made one concession to ease my mother's mind. I telephoned him and said, "Lebeau, this is Kevin Walsh. I have nothing to say to you. Kindly do not disturb my family." I then hung up. He was not there. It was an answering machine. I assume he will receive that message when he arrives at his desk tomorrow morning.

I have not seen the police near my house since Saturday, nor have I received reports about their attempting to contact me. They did not try to contact me at work either.

I don't encourage anyone to use the telephone to harass or intimidate anyone, particularly a federal agent, but the first amendment to the United States Constitution gives us a right to petition the government for a redress of our grievances, and that includes the right to tell pubilc servants what we think of them and their actions. I would encourage all who would not endanger themselves by so doing to telephone Ray Lebeau and tell them what you think about his harassment of me and my family and his abuse of a public office to try to intimidate dissidents and crush dissent. Ray LeBeau can be reached at (602)722-8026. Remember, if you call, be respectful and civil, and don't call more than once.
